What is a Kitchen Witch?

There is some debate over the exact country in which the Kitchen Witch originated from. Some claim Norway, while others claim Germany.

A Kitchen Witch is a homemade doll or poppet that resembles a witch. These dolls are displayed in kitchens all over the world. But mainly in the European countries.

The doll is supposed to depict a good witch who inspires productivity and safty in your kitchen. She is gentle, whimsical, loving creature, preforming wonderful magic that tricks the bad witch who is full of mischief. Therefore, the bad witch looses her powers to foil and ruin your cooking.

According to ledgend, your breads will always rise. Milk will not spoil. Your pots will not boil over and your spices will mix perfectly.

It is considered good luck to give a Kitchen Witch to a friend or family member that is getting married.
